<p>As I was reading through the pages, I must admit that to myself I felt that this is just one of the typical books which claim to work but truly it doesnt. Id have to retract though and say that as I scanned further, the book made a lot of sense and upon trying the program, I came to understand the same ecstatic feeling of my friend. I am here now to share with you how excited I am about the book and would like to share the same feeling with you.</p>

As I continue reading, this book got me hooked most especially in the part where it tells you about several myths about <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/fitness/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with fitness">fitness</a> which we have known all of our lives. It was truly an eye opening experience for me. </p>

Mind you, these exercises need not be accompanied with the use of ab gadgets. In the book, Mike Geary talks about the most effective routine that will get you on your way to the great abs that you have always wanted. </p>

What Engine 2 Diet does is that it plans your meals and shopping lists so that you can dish up easy-to-make meals. You will have to shop for the food items at a store that retails only natural foods. Your food intake is then logged and along with the planned exercise regime, you find yourself on the way to a new you. Importantly, you connect with all the others who are on this diet so that you get the support you need.</p>
<p>Under the Engine 2 diet, low fat protein foods like fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains are the main ingredients for food. Such a kind of a diet is not followed by so many of us and so it is not very easy to switch immediately to this kind of a diet plan. During the transition period that is when you switch on to this plan one can include fish and chicken in the diet. Even soy yoghurt, tofu and vegetable burgers are allowed to be consumed. So are whole grain pastas and whole grain crackers, which are allowed so that the Engine 2 diet plan does not get too boring. You will be surprised to note that in this plan with every 1000 calories you consume you will be consuming just 2.5 grams fat contents. Usage of oil while cooking these foods is a strict no and sugar should be used just as a natural sweetener only.</p>
<p>Salt intake, too, is limited. Plant proteins are complete proteins. Research has shown that the belief that only meat, eggs and dairy products were the source of complete proteins is a fallacy. Proteins are made up of twenty amino acids which exist as chains. Eight of these are required to be ingested from the food that we eat. These are the important amino acids. Amino acids that are not as essential are produced by the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> itself. Plants give us essential as well as nonessential amino acids. Carbohydrates are the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a>&#8217;s main fuel supply. 70% of your daily calories come from carbohydrates.</p>
<p>The Engine 2 diet lays a lot of emphasis on proteins obtained from the plants. Different quantities of amino acids are available in different plants. The Engine 2 diet selects different vegetable combinations which complement each other so that the right quantity of proteins and amino acids are available to the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a>. Proteins available from the plants are much safer than proteins obtained from non vegetarian foods. Our whole <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> requires energy at all times, be it working, exercising, breathing or for that matter even digesting food, all require energy which can be obtained from carbohydrates. After the digestion process sugars available in both the complex as well as simple carbohydrates get converted into glucose.</p>
<p>The muscles and the liver can store carbohydrates in the form of glycogen, but carbohydrates are stored in the blood in the form of glucose. The <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> system functions in such a manner that even if the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> consumes excess carbohydrates, they are stored as fats in the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a>. Vegetables like beans, sweet potatoes, different whole grain breads and fruits contain health friendly complex carbohydrates which release sugar in the system in a controlled manner. These carbohydrates allow the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> to use carbohydrates as fuel thus leaving you energetic throughout the whole day. And it has been proved beyond doubt by various researchers that even plants can give you all the required fat.</p>
<p>Other foods that give you simple carbohydrates, will give you a high and instant energy, but then get stored as fat. It is thus, these simple carbohydrates that really make us fat. The excess simple carbohydrates that are converted into fat and stored in the <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> are dangerous to our well-being. The fat content in some vegetables is as follows: Strawberries &#8211; 5% fat, broccoli &#8211; 8%, spinach &#8211; 11%, and bell peppers &#8211; 6%. The super food soybeans give us 41% fat. Different types of nuts are a good source of fat as well. The fats that plants provide are the good fats, either mono or poly unsaturated fats. </p>
<p>From various case studies of famous champions and athletes we are able to find that so many of them were on plant diets alone. The hugely competitive Martina Navratilova was on a constant plant based diet during her career. Esselstyn, the author of Engine 2 Diet book has stated various examples in his book. For example Tony Gonzalez won more than a thousand triathlons, by beating breast cancer. Salim Stoudamire, NBA player and Dave Scott have won the very famous Iron man triathlon which was held in Hawaii. So from these studies we can understand that we need not resort to eating only non vegetarian foods to obtain the best nutrients. Plants can also provide the same good nutrients which are released slowly in to our <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> system. Vegetarian food like the fortified soy milk can give our <a href="http://deutschlandwelle.com/index.php/tag/body/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag nofollow" title="Posts tagged with body">body</a> a rich supply of essential supplements like Vitamin B12.</p>
<p>Consequently, the energy that plants which are high in fiber and packed with nutrients provide is consistent all through the day, instead of periodically giving you a high. It would be better to substitute fish oil with ground flaxseed, walnuts, soybeans, and green leafy vegetables. These are all rich in omega-3. You could also try omega-3 supplements from plankton. Butter, margarine and sour cream do make food tasty but the inherent danger in eating foods which have these, is something that you will need to seriously think about if you want to enjoy good health.</p>
<p>Taste is cultivated, so when you try out the natural plant foods, in the beginning it will seem a little different. Once you get used to it, you see that you feel fitter than ever before, and actually discover the true taste of these foods, and then you will realize the wisdom and happiness in eating a plant-based diet.</p>
